Big Walk Guide

Guide / Solo Play & Matchmaking

Solo Play & Matchmaking

You can enter Big Walk's world alone, but it's not a full single-player game — the core puzzles are built for cooperation, and there's no random matchmaking to find teammates.

Can you play alone?

You can enter the world alone, but the core puzzles are built around cooperation, so solo play is not a full single-player experience.

In practice, this means you can walk around and explore solo, but you'll hit puzzles that expect more than one person's tools, gestures or perspective to solve.

Is there matchmaking to find random teammates?

There is no built-in random matchmaking. You join through hosting a room, friends, or an invite/join code.

If you don't already have a group, your options are hosting an open room and sharing the join code, or coordinating through the game's Discord or community spaces before you launch a session — not an in-game “find random players” button.

How do I join a friend's session?

The host starts a session and shares a join code; you enter that code to connect, even if you're not friends on the same platform's service — this is part of how crossplay works. For the full platform breakdown, see the platforms & crossplay guide.
